Unfortunately, the worst case scenario is unfolding with #Isaias on the verge of becoming a major hurricane this morning. The NHC forecast now calls for Isaias to become an extremely dangerous Category 3 hurricane prior to landfall. You should be preparing for a Category higher.

NHC Update 8:20 AM ET: Major Hurricane Isaias -- 120 mph winds (958 mb)

@GuntherEagleman · 2026-10-09T13:39:19+00:00

Hurricane Isaias has exploded into a Category 3 monster, and the Alabama and Florida Panhandle coastlines are in its crosshairs. This is no time to play tough. Fill your tanks, stock up on water, check on your elderly neighbors, and if officials order you to evacuate, GET OUT.

A family evacuates their coastal home with their elderly neighbor, pets, and supplies, as Hurricane Isaias, now a Category 3 storm, looms ominously over the Alabama/Florida Panhandle coast.

#Isaias is a borderline cat 2/3 storm now with 110 mph winds. Recon found a pressure near 958mb this morning. It has a chance to become a major over the next 6 hours or so before weakening. Shifted my landfall a bit east to Navarre, FL. Discussion here: patreon.com/raleighwx/post …

As of 8:00 AM, Isaias is still a strong category 2 hurricane. Very close to category 3 major hurricane status. Max winds are at 110 mph early this morning. The storm will likely be a category 3 hurricane later today. Big impacts for parts of the Gulf Coast. #scwx

#Isaias looks quite good with a developed, if somewhat asymmetric, core. It has a pressure of 958mb and 110mph winds, and likely will briefly become a C3. The storm seems to be a touch east of the NHC cone centerline, so expect landfall around Navarre or Fort Walton Beach, #FLwx.
