Let's say we have a young person in their 20's who is starting their first IRA. The money in their Roth or Traditional IRA with be invested for 40+ years until they are eligible to withdraw. Of course the market has up and down years, but over a long term time horizon (20, 30 years) the market almost always nets positive returns. If we know this to be true, what would be the down side to investing in a leveraged 2x ETF tracking the SP500 or Nasdaq until they are about 10 years away from retirement and then beginning to scale back risk? Looking as SSO and QLD specifically.

It runs in docker container and it's been stable for months.

· 2026-10-06T14:54:36.097000+00:00Trader Plus is slow Can Fidelity do something about the general sluggishness of the app? - You open Trader plus at 7:30 AM Central, yes PreMarket. Now when the market opens, and at 8:45 AM Central you should be able to place an order. But when you do, I get a notification that I can't place an order, or a StopLoss is active only during market hours - 15 min after market open. The only fix is to restart Trader Plus. Really frustrating. - If you place an order, it takes a good 15 seconds sometimes to show up in your Positions. When you sell portion of your contracts, it continues to be in your positions for 30 seconds. Very confusing - Options: It used to be earlier where you could have all options selected (Weekly, Monthly)... Now, random checkboxes in the expiration dropdown. You have to expand, click on All expirations and then everything gets selected. - Terrible fills. Fidelity used to be really good on fills. But lately, it waits and you get a bad fill almost always. I've noticed this more on options, but on stocks as well.

Buffett used to call these situations "workouts", and I think they're one of the more interesting corners of value investing. the basic idea sounds almost too easy: a company agrees to be acquired for $50. the stock trades at $48.50. if the deal closes, you make $1.50. but the spread by itself tells you almost nothing. say the stock falls to ~$38 if the deal breaks. you're risking $10.50 to make $1.50.
