trust isn't the question yet, TVL is. bitcoin holders don't trust MPC or bitgo on principle, they trust whatever holds their money without blowing up. hashi needs $500m locked to prove the model works, bitgo already has $10b+ in WBTC proving centralized custody hasn't failed.
