“Gary Gensler was teaching a class while I was on campus. I skipped it—and I’ve regretted it ever since.” @kenzimori links up with @annakaz , founder of @Vana , about those small early moments that quietly shape how you think—like brushing up against future regulators, and [Spoken audio]: Did you cross paths with SPF or Gary Gensler? Okay, I did. Oh, yeah, I laughed. Yeah, so Gary Gensler was teaching a class, but I didn't take it because you know, a lot of the undergrads, I think kind of like wrote off some of the Sloan MBA grad classes. Oh, my God, it's not technical enough. Like we're going to take like these network design distributed systems classes. I wish I had. would be a really interesting character to have shaped some of my, like, world view. I wonder what he was... I should actually... I think the course is online, right? I should actually look at it and kind of understand what he was teaching. But I didn't overlap with SBF. Yeah, I was supposed to graduate in 2019. I actually ended up dropping out because I started a company that came out of automating my job as an intern sorting documents and then, like, went through YC, learned this whole... found, like, Silicon Valley and I was like, this place is amazing. You can just build technology and scale it. Maybe I was not there when we might have overlapped, but overlapped with a lot of other like great founders, great people like Jing, the optimism founder was in the MIT Bitcoin Club and shaped a lot of my worldview. David Borek, too, who's now starting Glow Protocol, but he founded SIA was like the first entrepreneur I met when I was a freshman and I was like, wow, you can like start a company from nothing and just like scale this technology. So very grateful for like MIT's agriculture and just the number of great people who I got to learn from.
