"We were fully regulated about four years ago. After two years in a sandbox, we think we were the first company out of Bermuda to get dual license on the digital asset and on the insurance side." @onredan saw two ways blockchain could enter insurance: > insure crypto assets, or [Spoken audio]: what about reinsurance really stuck out to you as the opportunity you want to build your career around? And what was the problem? Like, when did you know this was like, yeah, let's go do this? Yeah, it's been a lifelong dream of mine from a young age. No, essentially, this was seven years ago, we saw the coming together of a new technology, blockchain, Rails, and crypto, and insurance. There were two ways that you could split that up. One was you take, there's a whole new risk category of digital asset risk. And I think projects like Nectis and Realm really approached the market very well in this regard. This is saying there's cold storage risk, there's slashing risk, a deep peg risk, all these different kinds of new exposures that the market wasn't used to. And the insurance industry was going to play a role in providing that kind of protection. We got excited by the second version, which was how is this new technology, blockchain as a broad technology, going to participate in the insurance sector as a whole. And so really for six years, we spent a long time solving hard problems. We did a lot of things right, mainly around how is the regulatory legal landscape in a very, you know, old, as you can imagine, and, you know, funnily enough risk averse and innovation averse industry. How is that going to coincide with tokenization and this kind of new concept that people have started to talk about six, seven years ago? Well, we didn't, and we did a great job there. We, you know, we were the, I think we've built a leading position in being able to model digital assets for the purpose of insurance collateral. We were fully regulated about four years ago, after two years in a sandbox. So I think we were the first company out of Bermuda to get dual licensed on the digital asset and on the insurance side. But really the positioning was this marketplace piece. And so it was saying, the whole insurance industry now has this new infrastructure that can come online and tokenize their programs and connect to a new source of capital and that capital can participate in this very uncorrelated profitable industry.
