In a conversation with Jackson Hinkle. @1inch | @holdoesdev | @jacksonaltonh [Spoken audio]: What do you think the DeFi user looks like in 2027 or 2028? How is one inch building its products for that user today versus the crypto native that has a lot of knowledge and maybe some extra time on their hands to do research? How do you build a product that is going to be usable for normal people who don't want to do that research, who don't want to spend the time trying to understand the underlying technology? So crypto isn't just for for D5D drones anymore, the user base is expanding, right? So it's not a shift, it's an expansion. And those crypto native power users remain core to one inch to the industry. We are seeing institutional investors and mainstream retail users entering through other means, right? Through tokenized real world assets called RWA's and more accessible products. So what one inch, what we want to do at one inch, we want to continue to serve our audience, which means expanding ourselves, delivering best in-class execution and more advanced capabilities for experienced users, while providing that dramatically simpler experience for those newcomers. So from my perspective, the future of DeFi isn't replacing. The CipherPunks with the suits, it's building the whole platform that serves both equally well. Yeah, that's a extremely tough line to walk where you want to give those crypto-native power users the features that they're used to. You also want to make it accessible to people who have never touched crypto before and building a product that works for both of those people is not a job that I'm envious of. It seems like a very difficult challenge to solve. But let's talk about Aqua. Aqua recently launched. What is Aqua? So aqua is solving three core problems in DeFi. So the first is liquidity fragmentation. So that's genuinely a change from how liquidity works today, where users typically deposit tokens into a pool to provide liquidity, but then those tokens are committed to that pool. You can't do anything else with them. Those pools, that kind of method of doing things, we're not doing that anymore, we are solving the problem of underutilized capital caused by tokens only backing one position at a time. So we are enabling kind of multiplication of the potential for that capital that sat there. And also, we solved the problem of giving up custody by depositing tokens into liquidity pools because aqua is self-custodial. Okay. Let's talk a little bit about how you could maybe just touch on the technology a little bit, which is, if you're committing your tokens to a liquidity pool, how can you do that and still maintain access or still maintain that self-custodial ownership that is so important to many, many people in crypto? Okay. So, Aqua works differently where liquidity is provided straight from the user's own wallet, and the same tokens come back many positions at the same time. So the user would open a position by choosing a pair, setting a price range and a swap fee. And the tokens stay in the user's wallet and only move when a swap fills against one of those positions. So essentially, one wallet back, many positions, all backed by the same tokens. And because those tokens come back several positions at the same time, they have more chances to be earning fees every time. So for the user, there's capital efficiency gains.
