I really feel for the @aave team here because even though they own responsibility in what’s ultimately affecting their users having onboarded rsETH, it all starts with L0 (and Kelp). L0 is a major infra provider, like an electric utility company for DeFi. I have empathy too for

THE ANGEL @TheDeFiAngel · 2026-04-21T16:22:53+00:00

This was a Layer Zero Exploit that affected rsETH by Kelp. On April 18, attackers compromised LayerZero’s infrastructure and used a forged cross-chain message to drain approximately $292M worth of rsETH from Kelp DAO. What Kelp actually did in response deserves more attention:

Sparklend saw meaningful inflows over the past two days, with active loans also increasing ~$350m It is the outlier amidst the sector-wide contraction following the rsETH exploit

Wu Shuo has learned that, according to Blockworks Research data, following the rsETH security incident, major lending protocols such as Aave experienced significant capital outflows. However, Sparklend saw notable capital inflows over the past two days, with net inflow deposits

"Secured by X" increasingly means "configured by whoever shipped this specific version of X." I've been advocating @dfinity Chain Fusion for cross-chain communication for a while now. The rsETH exploit is exactly the failure mode it prevents. Read full article

rsETH exploit was a live stress test for every DeFi lending protocol. $292M drained, Aave's ETH market frozen, $200M in bad debt left to absorb. Maple on the other hand had zero exposure to this and is completely operational @maplefinance operates as an institutional credit

Bitcoiners may freeze Satoshi's BTC. Arbitrum freezes the stolen rsETH SUI a year ago freeze the whole chain due to a hack at a dapp. What's next? Everyday Cardano's infrastructure seems the obvious in long term. Let's solve the liquidity issue and rise.

Must-read for every Tydro WETH supplier. @CatOnInkChain breaks down the rsETH exploit: Uniform socialization → ~2.23% haircut L2 isolation → ~25.57% haircut ~$18M difference. We hope to see the right outcome for all rsETH holders .

$rsETH was DeFi's Fight Club moment. The system worked. The buildings came down. No bank shut anyone out. No bailout. No contagion beyond the parties exposed. A very bad thing happened and the protocols kept running. That's the point.
