A new ENS delegate just appeared with 200,000 ENS of voting power. The wallet is one day old. Its primary name: ensteward.eth. Here's what the chain actually shows.

A snapshot of the ENS delegation interface showing ensteward.eth with a current voting power of 200K ENS, where 100% of delegations come from the same address (0xFc3D...868a, EOA) in a single 200K ENS delegation made 1 hour ago—visually corroborating the post's claim of a newly created, self-delegated ENS wallet wielding substantial voting power.

ensteward.eth became the 2nd top ENS delegate Who is it? Someone to help keep the protocol neutral? Let's have a look at @anticapture 's tracker - It's a clean addy funded by coinbase with 200k ENS. - Right before that, a Labs funded addy deposited 200k ENS to coinbase

In 2023 @VitalikButerin wrote a blog post. "The most important scarce resource is legitimacy". In it he actually ponders about the ENS root controller and what would happen if the signers went rogue. Today the controller is no longer that multisig. The control lies with the

The image shows a blog post titled "The Most Important Scarce Resource is Legitimacy" by Vitalik Buterin dated March 23, 2021. It discusses Bitcoin and Ethereum blockchain ecosystem expenditures, noting that Bitcoin pays approximately $38 million per day in block rewards to miners (plus $5 million/day in transaction fees) and Ethereum pays $19.5 million/day in block rewards plus $18 million/day in transaction fees, while the Ethereum Foundation's annual budget is only $30 million.

The accompanying post highlights how Buterin originally pondered the risks of the ENS root controller multisig going rogue in this article, emphasizing the importance of legitimacy as a scarce resource in blockchain governance.

I’m reading “registrations is what paid the teams” as “we owe the DAO nothing and we regret launching it”. I disagree. There were lots of teams selling nfts back then, lots of companies making bucks selling “domains” that didn’t work anywhere unless they paid integrations. ENS

Again, ENS is (still) good. Don’t mix the governance tension with the protocol utility

Saying "we never sold" doesn’t really excuse the fact that using a token to leverage the community to help boost your brand and product will come back to haunt you when you broke your promise to them. * ENS launch a DAO in 2021 and introduced a token. They gained resources,

I spent more than a down payment on a solid house on ENS names too (mostly Pokemon names)

If you care even slightly about decentralization, ENS treasury capture should alarm you. If one person can position himself to extract years of rent from a supposedly public-goods naming system, then ENS decentralization starts looking way worse than Web2.

Kudos to @anticapture for building a tool that makes it so easy to see when governance changes and who may be behind it. The cherry on top ... ENS DAO partially funded this tool to protect itself from exactly what we see is happening right now

Every dev left in the ENS ecosystem was just told to fuck off into the sun… What people aren’t understanding is DAO governance was responsible for declining registrations (revenue) and failure to onboard new users (mush less mass adoption).

A meme featuring two scenes from a Western movie, with text overlay reading "NICK/ETH IS TAKING THE DAO TREASURY, HAD LABS EMPLOYEES GASLIGHT ME ABOUT IT, AND TOLD ME TO FUCK OFF INTO THE SUN" and the reply "-First time?", humorously framing the situation as a casual experience for remaining ENS developers.

The image, depicting condemned men at a noose, parallels the post's message about developers being driven out of the ENS ecosystem by poor DAO governance decisions by nick.eth.

Lots to unpack here. So let's get started: 1.) ENS Foundation has the prerogative to use its members considerable voting power to effect any decision they want. Token weighted voting is plutocratic to its core and code is law, right? 2.) It's perfectly reasonable to believe a

ENS was destined to fail since the Brantley situation

The image shows a negative review of ENS (ens.eth) on a web3 platform, criticizing a proposed 140% price increase on 5-letter domain extensions, describing it as a "temp check" filled with greed after the failed Namechain project. The reviewer's frustration about poor decision-making and financial mismanagement of ENS funds aligns with the post's claim that "ENS was destined to fail since the Brantley situation," highlighting ongoing criticism of ENS leadership and governance.

offer placed 2 ETH ($3,059) bid sitting on collectibles.eth. clean dictionary word, registered back in 2020-02 and held since. the bidder's not deep in ENS, 3 names total and all of them 5-letter-plus dictionary types. so this isn't a flier, it's the lane they actually buy

The ENS DAO was never voting on every decision. Way back it established working groups of 2-3 people who were empowered by the DAO to make decisions.
