Prediction markets are for bets on what you think is true, they create asymmetric upside but not the actual outcomes. What if you could do that, while bootstrapping new markets?” [Spoken audio]: Why is predictive allocation this interesting new kind of spin off almost not prediction markets and on this gamified auction design, uh, to bring more value and to create more value on chain? What does this launch mean to Aaron Joe? The way to think about it is that, um, AMMs came into existence and they solved for one problem, which is like, what is the price of this asset in any particular time? And, uh, they were very good at that, right? You could remove all these intermediaries. You could just know, I'm here. I want this, the price is this boom, we're off to the races, but This is revolutionary stuff. But what they weren't necessarily good at was where does capital need to go next? Where do markets need to exist where they do not yet exist? And so the evolution of these exchanges built around AMMs was first self-organizing marketplaces. So this is the classic two-sided marketplace of Uniswap. You're a trader, you want liquidity. I'm a liquidity provider, I've got that. You're gonna give me fees and in exchange I'm gonna give you the tokens to swap against and hopefully the best execution about that. It was simple, but it's kind of a fragile thing. The big innovation in Metadex, too, was think about these things as coordinated marketplaces. So you add a third participant in the token operator. And the token operator is allocating capital into markets, which allows it to bootstrap things ahead of a clear market demand. Two great examples of this is where we are leading. There was not significant Bitcoin trading on base. But anyone could have come on base and spun up a pool in a self-organizing way, but that's not how it happened. happened because folks like us and like Coinbase used their capital allocation power to direct capital to establish the world's best Bitcoin market. And then that market ended up producing extraordinary value, right? It was like within a week or two more Bitcoin was being traded on Aero and base then on Uniswap and main net Ethereum, which it had been basically since the Genesis DeFi and the FX markets of ERC, USDC would be another great example. But as of right now, when you're allocating capital in that way, you don't actually get the upside on being right about where a market does not yet exist, right? Because you get rewarded with the fees generated before. So you'd have to basically outlay your capital, take on the risk of bootstrapping that new market, but you don't get an asymmetric reward. So this is how we get into predictive allocation and markets that are not just self-organizing or coordinated but now anticipatory and predictive. So in predictive allocation, it is no longer that you are allocating capital each week incentivized by the rewards that represent what happened last week. You are allocating capital to where you think markets need to exist next. And if you are right, this is where the prediction market thing comes in. Prediction markets are about, you know, making a bet on what you think is true. But it's not, they don't play a role in actually creating the outcome. Right. Um, but you do get an asymmetric upside in a prediction market, right? If you are right on, uh, figuring out, uh, a truth claim, right? When, uh, an outcome is uncertain. So what if you could do that while bootstrapping new markets? So the example I always like to use here is Winermute, they bought tokens off the market too, they locked them, so they hold Arrow, they allocate rewards each week. Winermute has a lot of intelligence, right, about where they think liquidity needs to exist, because they are going to be one of the single biggest traders into that liquidity. And so Winermute, for instance, if they had a point of view that there's going to be an unbelievable amount of volatility in the blue chips next week, maybe they allocate 100% of the capital from their voting power to those markets. That incentivizes those markets to grow in advance of the demand, and then because they were right about that, they get to collect an asymmetric reward by virtue of being right about that is where the activity was going to concentrate or generate, but it could be something even way more in the trenches where you have a point of view about, you know, a more exotic pair, right, you think so and so is going to go on stage and they're going to announce something pretty amazing, you know, about this coin. So you ship from the pretty guaranteed outcome you could go from like voting for rapid use DC You don't know if it's gonna outperform But you know it's gonna generate a lot of values allocating everything there and now it's printing You know a thousand percent APR LP's file in and then if that volatility of that activity of those fees hit You get all the sort of gains from being right about that is where they needed to exist, right? Wow So you're able to see create a system to just kind of summarize you create a system that you are incentivizing liquidity providers and capital allocators to go to where to make a bet on where they think the most amount of trading activity is going to happen and thus providing the most amount of liquidity if they are right to these pairs which will give the users who want to trade that pair the best possible execution the best liquidity the most depth and then if they're right in doing that earlier and embedding on that they get an outsized return of the fees generated or the value that was generated from that activity, and that resets on, you know, a weekly basis or some sort of cadence. So you're basically creating a system where you're incentivizing people to allocate capital in a more efficient manner rather than kind of having a broad spread. Like say about like, you know, let's just do five pools, you know, we're going to allocate it based on what we think is going to happen. And then that gives the users the best case for their liquidity and for their needs.
