First, I want to clarify that, obviously, I only buy the games I'm interested in, not just any game just because it's licensed. This year, during the last 3 Steam sales events, I've been buying almost exclusively licensed games out of fear that they might get delisted overnight. It's annoying because there have been really good deals on games I want to try, like Resident Evil 4 and Final Fantasy VII Remake, but I always end up thinking, "I can buy these games anytime and they'll probably even go down in price, so its better if I buy these licensed games before they get delisted."
