Currently sitting on $900k in a 401k, $400k in a brokerage account, and then cash savings around $80k. We live in a pretty affordable city, and my monthly expenses are around $4k ($1k of that is college fund + minors investment account so when the child reaches of age, he'll essentially already be at his CoastFIRE amount). I spend probably around $1k a month at my discretion. Dinners, goods, etc. All calculators say I'm past my CoastFIRE number, which is great. But it also feels that even a coast job that covers my expenses, discretionary spending and provides health insurance feels probably like the same job I'm doing now, just for a lot less money. Maybe I could take a couple steps backwards to a lower level. But many of the lower paying jobs are just at smaller companies that may actually expect more out of the role, not less.
