Here’s my investment thesis: -Carl Icahn just purchased an additional 40.53 million shares on 9/23 at ~$7 per share. -With this recent purchase, he now owns 659 million of the ~710 million IEP shares or 92.7% of the total outstanding shares. -In addition, IEP’s 2nd largest holding is CVI (CVR Energy) where he owns 71.2 million shares. This stock represents ~23.7% of IEP’s total holdings and has surged over the last 3 months (from ~$30 to $55+ per share) and just hit an all-time high. -The next biggest IEP holding is UAN (CVR Partners) at 5.6% and is up nicely in the last 12 months. These 2 CVR holdings account for 29.3% of IEP’s total holding so this could have a a nice impact on IEP’s bottom line.
