Yesterday I had a session with my therapist. He is a man, and I am a woman. We are roughly in the same age range. Some background info about me that is relevant here: I have severe OCD and severe abdominal physical pain that is mostly likely endometriosis (many symptoms match). The pain has gotten downright debilitating, and it made my quality of life garbage. I have been to ER many times for it, but they didn't help at all. They would give something for the pain (like morphine), tell to follow up with an outpatient gyno, and discharge me. Two years ago they hospitalized me for it but they didn't get to the core of the issue. I was begging for a laproscopy but they refused and wanted focus on "alleviating the pain." All they did in those 2 weeks was give me an MRI and opiods for pain. That's it. Not to mention they treated me like an annoyance because of my OCD. Some doctors and nurses were openly rude to me. It was very hard for me because I was exposed to so many contaminatiom OCD triggers at once that my mental health took a serious toll. I also had doctors try to attribute my pain to OCD. I followed up with an outpatient gyno right afterwards but she refused to do the surgery. She prescribed birth control, which didn't help. I'm not going to lie: I had a hard time following up afterwards because my OCD got out of control and I had tons of other problems. The pain only kept getting worse and worse. Last year, it got so bad I had no choice but to return to the ER (2 nights in a row). The first night, they wanted to hospitalize me but once they saw my chart, they said they already did everything they can to help me (they didn't), and they discharged me. The second night, they wanted to send me home without even giving me anything for the pain. The doctor wouldn't see me for hours. I literally thought she forgot about me. My mom had to track her down and convince her to give me something for the pain as nothing was helping (not even opiods). They finally agreed to give me ketamine but they discharged me literally right after they injected it. They sent me while I was tripping. All this made me lose faith in the medical system completely. I had no choice but to start self-medicating with kratom. It was the only way to calm the pain enough to be able to function. I eventually found a gyno that agreed to do the surgery but it was complicated with the hospital overbooking that day, insurance denials, and other problems. That doctor left the practice and transferred me to another doctor. The second the new doctor she heard I was on kratom, she started attributing my pain to kratom use (which doesn't make sense) and treating me like an addict and refusing to do the surgery.
