Phone notifications were obviously too slow, so i switched to a websocket feed and started pulling the posts through 1322io, mostly to find out if the lag was on the data side or on mine. What helped was logging three timestamps separately. When the post went up, when my script received it, and when my order actually went out. Turns out most of the delay came after the post arrived, my own order logic and the broker side, not the feed. Kind of embarrassing honestly. For anyone who trades headline moves, do you log those timestamps too? And where did most of your delay end up being, the data, your code, or the broker?
