"not your keys not your coins" doesn't answer the question about trading capital, and i spent years pretending it did I self custody. Hardware wallet, seed on steel, the whole thing. My long term XRP has never sat on a platform and it isn't going to. So I'm not here to argue with the sub's default position, I hold it. The thing I avoided thinking about for a long time is that self custody is an answer about holding, and I kept using it as if it were an answer about trading lol You cannot post margin from a hardware wallet. If you want leverage, someone else is holding the collateral. That's not a preference, it's the mechanism. So the actual question isn't whether to let a third party hold your trading capital, because you already decided that when you decided to trade with leverage. The question is which third party and under what rules.
