ELI5: Mixing urine (sorry!) Ok, so a bit of a grim subject, but as far as my search has shown, it's gone unanswered. And hopefully I'm not the only one who's noticed this... So if I go for a wee, it doesn't particularly smell. Fair enough there's a slight urine smell, but I stay fairly well hydrated, so it's not really noticeable. However, I've got two small boys and they sometimes forget to flush. When I go to the toilet after them without realising they've just been and my urine mixes with theirs, it smells horrendous. Now, they're only 3 & 6, so they don't particularly have big bladders, and you can assume the water in the bowl has already diluted their wee. How does it smell so bad?
