Imagine getting this mad because someone doesn’t believe that a buzzing box is proof of a moon landing. Screaming at people doesn’t actually prove you’re smart and scientific. It actually does the opposite. Full debate at ladle.tv

Nolo has officially crossed the International Dateline border, ending her time in the East Pacific Basin. She is now no longer a Hurricane, but a West Pacific Typhoon instead. This is the first time we’ve had a Hurricane-Typhoon changeover since Category 4 Dora in 2023.

Insane that Torrance hit 100 today which was around the same as Los Angeles. So much for the normal South Bay coastal breeze that generally keeps the coast cooler than the city. Redondo even hit 95 right on the water.

A dramatic cloudy sky looms over the Los Angeles skyline, viewed from across the bay with coastal neighborhoods in the foreground. The image illustrates the unusual heat event described in the post, showing how the coastal cities of Torrance and Redondo experienced temperatures nearly matching inland Los Angeles when the typical ocean breeze failed to provide its usual cooling effect.

Most places lose their big animals as people move in. India somehow went the other way. Tigers are up to nearly 3,700, Asiatic lions needed a new reserve because there were too many for the old one, and Assam just logged a year with no rhino poaching.

A fighter jet creates a stunning vapor cone near the sound barrier. This dramatic cloud, sometimes called a shock collar, forms when a fast-moving aircraft pushes through moist air, causing air pressure and temperature around the jet to drop suddenly. That rapid pressure drop
