· 2026-10-03T17:22:00.286000+00:00Changing careers at 30 years old, is it worth it? I am really considering changing careers to become a college professor. I just don’t know if it’s worth it considering the amount of education I would have to do and the cost. I have a BA in communications and a certificate in Public Relations. Recently I got a certificate in learning design / instructional design and realized my love for teaching. I would love to teach other adults learning design in a college. I’ve never had a job in communications or public relations I tried in 2020 after graduating it never worked out and I ended up becoming a supervisor for a customer service team. I made a whole training program for my team with SOPs and videos. I enjoyed making the training for my team and coaching them the most. I really do not want to keep working in customer service though. Has anyone shifted careers into teaching later in their life? How did that turn out? Any advice would be appreciated thank you.

· 2026-10-03T19:34:18.768000+00:00Late 30s F - looking to enter workforce - career advice welcome My cousin has recently begun looking to reenter the workforce following unfortunate circumstances (her husband has a heart condition, and previously worked blue-collar jobs without any benefits). Background: Late 30s. Female. Bachelors degree in mathematics and statistics. Looking for a job that is "family compatible" to some extent, and ideally uses her math background (she enjoys math). Willing to go to school to change careers, but two years maximum. Salary goals: 70k-80k USD per year. Limitations: Currently, own a home in a large US city. Not able to move.

· 2026-10-03T17:44:45.233000+00:00Day 11 — Database Sharding: How do you choose the right shard key? I'm continuing my system design learning journey, and today's topic is Database Sharding. Sharding distributes a large dataset across multiple database servers to support horizontal scaling. For example, an e-commerce application can distribute customer records across multiple shards instead of storing everything on a single database server. Some common sharding strategies are: - Range-based: Distributes data by value ranges. - Hash-based: Uses a hash function to distribute records. - Directory-based: Uses a lookup mechanism to locate records.
