LLMs can draw architecture diagrams now. But how do you know the arrows are actually true? I’ve been experimenting with using LLMs to understand unfamiliar codebases through architecture diagrams. The diagrams are useful, but I ran into a problem: a wrong arrow looks exactly as convincing as a correct one. So I tried a simple experiment. I asked Claude Haiku to draw the architecture of Flask, then checked every box and arrow against the repository’s actual import graph. Out of the diagram: - 15 arrows were backed by real imports - 1 was only indirectly connected - 2 had no import behind them - 1 box pointed to "blueprint.py", which doesn’t exist — the actual file is "blueprints.py"
