How does futures work? I dont seem to understand this. I understand how futures trading are contracts you sign to sell a commodity at a set price in a set date, but I do not understand how this works in practice. How are the contracts stitched together into one continuos price movement in for example TradingView? Do all the contracts have different delivery dates and expiration dates? And why would the futures vary in price? Lets say the contract expires/delivery date is in 1 month. Then I understand that the price could vary from the current price. But then you would need to know the delivery/expiration date, and if everything is stitched together, how would you know?
