Why does Dogecoin still use Scrypt instead of something newer? Obviously “newer” doesn’t automatically mean “more secure,” and Scrypt has been battle-tested for years. But from a technical perspective, what are the main advantages and tradeoffs of Dogecoin sticking with Scrypt today? Is the biggest reason compatibility with merged mining/Litecoin, ASIC ecosystem stability, or simply that there’s no meaningful security benefit to changing?
