Lived in nyc for 10+ years because I moved here in college and just paying so much in rent etc. I have 0 debt, have around 40k in my Roth, 30k in cash and 20k invested in s&p and a little over 10k in crypto. I have a bit of an unconventional story, at 24 I was selling my art through social media and at 25 I was consistently making 100k after tax with my art practice. This lasted for four years, I traveled a lot, got a huge art studio and was spending average 6500 per month in nyc. Was represented by a New York gallery that closed last year. Not sure what happened but starting January this year I’ve only made 25k in painting sales, and since my New York gallery closed, the owners stopped selling art altogether. I went from having 5-6 group shows a year, 1 to 2 solo shows a year to having 0 shows this year. And there is essentially no end in sight. I’m really scared.
