Feeling directionless and unmotivated in my corporate admin job. Any advice? Hello! I am 3 years into my corporate job as an Operations/Office Manager/Culture lead at a VC firm specializing in crypto. My background is actually in social work, but I transitioned to the business world for financial stability. As the only administrator, my role is extremely diverse, ranging from event planning to HR to office management, as well as any spillover admin that pops up. I've been getting feedback that I need to "take more initiative" when it comes to events, meaning strategizing events rather than executing other peoples' ideas. However, I'm not familiar with the crypto industry and I'm not passionate about it at all, so taking on a strategic role here feels very difficult and heavy for me. I see that they want to support my growth into a promotion, and I really appreciate that, but something in me is resisting.
