Am I the only one bothered that most yield vaults report their own numbers? Been going down a rabbit hole comparing how different vaults calculate the APY they display and its kind of shocking. In tradfi even the shadiest hedge fund has a third party administrator that calculates NAV, because obviously you dont let the guy managing the money also count the money. In DeFi the standard is basically the protocol's own contract or worse, their own backend, telling you what your share is worth. "But its onchain" doesn't really answer it either. The token balance is onchain. Whether the strategy backing it is actually worth what they say is a completely different question, especially for anything with offchain legs (basis trades, RWAs, CeDeFi stuff).
