Wrapping or bridging BTC might be a big mistake. Been thinking about this a lot lately. Every time I look into earning yield on BTC, it comes down to the same options, hand it to a CeFi platform and hope they don't do like Celsius, or wrap it into WBTC. For me it just feels weird trusting a bridge and a multisig instead of Bitcoin itself. What's interesting is the stuff happening with native Bitcoin staking using Taproot, where the BTC never actually leaves the Bitcoin chain, no wrapping, no bridge, no custodian holding your keys. I think this might actually be the future of BTC becoming productive. Not saying wrapped BTC is going away, it's just wild that lending BTC has meant giving up actual bitcoin security assumptions for so long, when the base layer can technically do more than we've been using it for.
