One percent depth was giving me the wrong answer A friend sent me a screenshot of a SOL/USDT book after we had compared exchange liquidity at a crypto expo. He asked whether its depth looked better than OKX. His screenshot was from BYDFi, and the total inside one percent of the mid price was bigger, so my first answer was yes. Then I tried to price the market sell he had in mind and got a different answer. One percent depth adds every bid between the mid price and one percent below it. That is useful, but those bids are spread across a lot of prices. The order fills the best level first and keeps moving down the book. I had to calculate the weighted average fill instead of treating the full total as if it sat near the top bid.
