Let's Clear the Air About What the ColdCard "Hack" was and was Not Describing this as a "hack" to me, is misleading. Traditionally, a hack implies creatively bypassing or defeating a robust security mechanism. In this case, AI helped identify an existing implementation flaw... a vulnerability introduced through human error... that could then be exploited. The noteworthy development is not that AI broke strong security, but that it dramatically accelerated the discovery of a vulnerability that had escaped human scrutiny for years. I see a lot of fear, and gloom over this event. Tragic, as it most certainly was for so many. But I even see some proclaiming that Cold Storage is dead (a bit hyperbolic, no?) to me that sounds a bit like someone saying no one will ever fly again, in the days after a plane crashed, attributed to human error in assembly or maintenance of the plane.
