Cold Wallets: How to handle trade-off? I understand the "not your keys not your coins" aspect, thats why I actually wanna move my BTC to a cold wallet. Sounds secure at first, until i think about it: break-in, fire, done. So i thought about adding a passphrase on top. But if i forget that, its all gone too, just this time cuz of me. Metal plates seem like a solution for the fire/water part. But if someone actually breaks in and knows what there looking for, a metal seed backup basically screams "theres crypto here" - so in a weird way it raises the risk instead of lowering it. With Bitvavo (Exchange from NL you can fill in any other big "trusted" Exchange) it'd be simpler. Licensed, 100k guarantee, no hack in years. Until i realized: the guarantee doesnt cover it if the company itself goes bankrupt. And "they wont go bankrupt" is exactly what i thought about FTX too.
