How can closed source wallets like ledger prove their entropy generation is working as stated? Given that some HW wallets like ledger have completely closed source entropy generation because the TRNG is inside the secure element which is bound by NDAs, how can ledger prove that their entropy generation is actually doing what they say it is doing? I read that the TRNG inside secure elements like STmicroelectronics can fail for numerous reasons like environmental stress, clock anomalies, active tampering, aging and wear etc. Do ledger devices contain a failsafe where if the TRNG is not working properly the entire device will refuse to generate a seed, or can the TRNG fail leaving seed entropy generation severely weak?
