ALL Hardware Wallet industry shall begin Validating Randomness at every build What's happened to Coinkite, while it exposed some degree of incompetence, also evidence an industry wide issues: there are no randomness validation test standardized for hardware wallets, it's something mandatory at the military and other institutions that rely on the encryption, not just for secret seeds, also salt and nonce are depending on it. Industry wide has to implement RNG randomness validation test and verify every new wallet firmware build and publish it's results before distributing any software update. It also affects software wallets. What happened to Coinkite is likely an negligence or lack of skills issues, but a toolchain attack perfectly could introduce a similar bug into any Wallet, unless we standardize and rule mandatory RNG validation test, the safety of hardware wallets will be the same "trust me bro".
