Properly securing funds (discussion) I'm looking to start a conversation on here pertaining to properly securing your funds after this incident with Cold Card. We now know what the issue was with CC, and that was the seed generation going all the way back to early 2021 was NOT random and the equivalent of having a handful of words instead of 12 or 24 random ones. Once the hackers were able to get in, all of these wallets were essentially compromised. A passphrase would have protected these users because the hacker would have to go through each individual wallet, so it bought these people time to get their funds off of the CC and onto at least an exchange or another wallet. However, all of this could have been avoided if their seed generation was truly random, so it sounds like this was purely incompetence OR intentional, not going to debate here for a case for one or the other.
