Importance of passphrases This article in CoinDesk outlines the method used by the hackers to compromise CC seeds and sweep the contents. Attackers would have to generate seed phrases from the limited entropy of the CC RNG. Some of these seeds would correspond to addresses with coins which would be swept and many others would be dead ends that would be passed over. Am I right in thinking that even the most trivial low entropy passphrase would result in the wallet being overlooked? When the generated seed was compared to the blockchain if there was no match there would be no way to tell if the lack of a match was because the address had a passphrase or was a dead end. There is no way for the attacker to know if a passphrase is present so there is no incentive for them to dedicate resources to brute forcing the passphrase which may or may not exist.
