No, you don't need to buy perfect dice to generate your seed phrase I see this misinformation perpetuated everywhere, especially after the Coldcard incident. Let's set the record straight. TLDR: If you have "biased" commercial dice, more throws can compensate for the lack of fairness among the sides of the die. So instead of 99 rolls for 256-bit entropy, do 150. Do 200. You can even do 256 throws and assume that every roll gives you 1 bit of entropy. Ridiculous, but this is a massive margin for safety and works. Now, the math. What I said above will not work if you have one side of the die that will happen like more than 50% of the time, which is unrealistic and even ridiculous to accept. Not how real life works.

Common mistakes: seed backups Now is a good time to talk about seed backups. Over the last years, I saw that a lot of people on this sub have trouble with it and make mistakes. I will detail common backup strategies and their issues before suggesting the best one. This is aimed at people whose life would be ruined by the loss of BTC: if you only have a little money on it no need to worry about all of this (yet 😉). Strategy 1: you create a backup on paper/steel and hide it. That's good because if you lose your hardware wallet, you still have another copy of the seed (and thus, your savings). This is bad because if an attacker gets this list you lose everything.
