A chain is only as strong as the weakest link… The weakest link is self custody via seed phrases. I know this is going to get a lot criticism, but it’s the sad truth. Having to safely store a seed phrase for self custody IS a bitcoin security weakness. Everyone always says the chain has never been hacked, but wallets have been. I understand if you make a perfectly air gapped paper wallet it’s virtually impossible to be hacked, but even that runs the risk of being lost or stolen, which is also a security threat. Until we can admit having to store a seed phrase is a massive security weakness that needs a solution, we are going to continue to have huge wallet hacks.
