can a stablecoin actually have a "bank run"? Can I have some suggestion? Been going down a rabbit hole and want to sanity-check my thinking with people who know more than me. As I understand it, a bank run is just: too many people try to withdraw at once, there isn't enough liquid backing to pay everyone, and the fear of not getting paid makes even more people rush the exits. Classic feedback loop. What I'm trying to work out is whether stablecoins are actually exposed to the same thing. It seems like they would be? Anything that promises to pay you $1 on demand can break if the backing can't hold up under pressure. UST in 2022 feels like the obvious example - lost its peg, ~$60B gone in days, no real collateral behind it.
