“It’s about $1 million a megawatt all-in, between infrastructure and compute, to build a Bitcoin mining site. The AI site, just the infrastructure without compute, is $10 to $15 million a megawatt.” $MARA CEO Fred Thiel points out the math of Bitcoin miners pivoting to AI: An [Spoken audio]: Do you think that AI is one of the reasons that capital has rotated out of Bitcoin and what do you think about just the space at large with regards to how much these AI companies now are being valued, the stocks are shooting through the roof, we have IPO after IPO, and it has sucked the wind out of the sales of Bitcoin it seems. Yeah, I mean, I've got enough gray hair to have been very active in my career when the internet was being built. And at the time, I was in the data communications industry. So you can think Ethernet technology. And so when the internet was being built out, there seemed to be infinite demand for routers and Ethernet switches, networking gear, fiber optic cable, data centers, et cetera. And then that demand kind of didn't materialize. We're in a different situation today in that you're seeing the actual demand for AI capacity growing. The big watershed moment, I think, that made people realize this was when Anthropic released co-work and the ability to really do agentic and open claw. So if you think about February of this year, there was all of a sudden this watershed moment where the average consumer started realizing what AI was. And the investment community really started looking and seeing if demand does this, but supply is down here, somebody's going to make a lot of money. And so they started looking at the whole value stack around AI. And Jensen Wong runs NVIDIA, has a very interesting model. It's like a pyramid. And he says, OK, the bottom of the pyramid is power, then comes silicon, compute his business, Then comes the infrastructure, so the buildings with the cooling and all that, and then comes the software layers above it. And the one thing that limits everything above it is power. And so it's kind of, Bitcoin miners all of a sudden became very attractive as power providers, potentially, and site providers. And from an economics perspective, if you think about a Bitcoin mining site, It's about a million dollars a megawatt all in between infrastructure and compute to build a Bitcoin mining site. An AI site, just the infrastructure without compute is 10 to 15 million dollars a megawatt. Wow. Yeah, I heard one data center is like 300 million. Yeah, so depending on the size. And then you have to layer the compute on top of that. So very capital-intensive business. Now, Bitcoin miners could never get credit from banks because, well, Bitcoin wasn't really regulated and then there's no real value in their eyes to Bitcoin and the price is highly volatile and the banks don't want to be sitting in the loan to own business and owning miners because that happened back in 2022. So long ago when we had that last bottom cycle and a lot of lenders ended up owning Bitcoin mining equipment. But in the AI world, you have investment grade credit, meaning if Google signs up with you, people will throw money at you. It's a 15-year contractual lease, so recurring revenues. The risk factor for the financial community is much lower. credit is interested so you have access to a lot of capital you have a need for capital but you have an act you have access to it and so that gets kind of the market all involved and then as you look at you know the retail investment community and you know retail is what typically was driving a lot of Bitcoin stock values previously yeah and it was looking at AI saying you know wow Wow, Bitcoin is going down, AI is going up, let me move my money. And so you started seeing selling pressure on Bitcoin and on Bitcoin stocks as people rotated into gold and then into AI. And now they've rotated kind of out of gold and doubled down on AI. I think SpaceX as an IPO was a good kind of warning shot to the world that everything doesn't always go up. And I think these companies that go public very late in life have a large number of investors who have a vested interest in exiting the company and not holding that investment because they've been in it for eight to ten years and, you know, they'd like to get their profits and move on and do the next thing. So I think the IPO market's going to be very different going forward. more mature companies, much fewer young companies. And the AI business is going to get tougher and tougher at the model level, in the compute level. And I think the one market which is fairly insulated for quite a long time is, again, power and land and the capacity side of the market. If you think about three constraints, capital, capacity and compute, The data center is capacity. And if you have power that's available, if you can build a data center on your site and be operational by the end of 27 or end of 28, I think you're sitting in a golden position.

The latest crypto update Bitcoin and Ethereum hit seven-week highs as ETF inflows return The CLARITY Act moves closer to becoming U.S. law Robinhood’s blockchain gains traction for tokenised assets and AI Tokenised asset activity surges more than 170x year-on-year [Spoken audio]: Welcome to CoinSpot Market Updates. Let's jump in. Bitcoin and Ethereum climbed to their highest levels in seven weeks. This coincided with renewed demand for spot Bitcoin ETFs, seeing five straight days of net inflows for the first time since April. In Washington DC, the Clarity Act continues to edge closer to becoming law. The bill, which would establish the first broad regulatory framework for crypto in the US, faces a critical few weeks before Congress begins its August reset. Meanwhile, Robinhood's new blockchain continues to gain traction. Since launching earlier this month, activity on the network has continued to grow, as developers built applications focused on tokenized assets and AI. And finally, asset tokenization remains one of crypto's strongest growth areas in 2026. Recent data from venture firm A16Z shows tokenized stock activity has accelerated significantly, with monthly transfer volume reaching $13.2 billion through the month of June, up from $75.7 million in June last year, an increase of more than 170 times. Head to CoinSpotload for the latest market updates.

builders are essential for longterm success
Perpetual contract pioneer BitMEX announces "permanent closure on 9/23," token plummets 99% overnight to zero... On September 23, it will permanently halt trading, and on the same day, it faces a class-action lawsuit accusing its liquidation system of being "engineered" to [Spoken audio]: is closing its doors permanently on September 23rd and they've already stopped new signups. The exchange that basically invented perpetual swaps is walking away after 11 years. Think of it like that local diner that invented the breakfast burrito only to close down. The idea outlived the place. The real impact is that traders have to move their money elsewhere which scatters liquidity across smaller less reliable venues. Why this matters is that that we're already in a correction, so losing a major spot adds friction when people are already nervous. Keep an eye on daily trading volume after September 23rd. If Binance and OKX soak up that flow, they'll just get bigger. But if volume shrinks across the board, it means risk appetite is actually weaker than the charts are showing.
