An AI agent hits a $4 paywall mid-task. It can't pull a credit card. Can't click subscribe. Every payment system we've built assumes a human is on the other side. @ed__marquez @hedera [Spoken audio]: I want to start with picturing a scenario that perhaps many of us have been on or been in, which is you have an AI agent, you give it a real job, right? And the real job is say, research five suppliers, compare their pricing and then come back to me with a recommendation. It's doing great. But then on that third website that it's researching, it actually hits a wall and the issue is that the problem or the number that it needs is behind a paywall. Imagine it has to pay four dollars to get the information, then your agent freezes and it cannot pull a credit card, a bank account or it cannot click subscribe, right? And that's when you realize every system that we've built to take payments on the web assumes that you have a human or a person sitting on the other side. And the moment that software tries to pay autonomously, the whole thing breaks apart.
