"It's actually in the bear markets, in the down cycles where the best companies are often built." @gogoSlava , co-founder of @Indiegogo , on what separates real entrepreneurs from the "tourists." Full episode below [Spoken audio]: there's never a good time to have a kid, there's never a good time to start a company. It's always a bad time. There's always excuses. So I think it's great to get the money while you can, meaning when the market is bull market, but it's actually in the bear markets. It's actually in the down cycles where often the best companies are built. Because in a bull market, it's easier to get money. And when it's easier to get money, it's easier to act like you're actually growing really on somebody else's money that they're giving to you, i.e., it's bad unit economics. So in Uber talk, you're selling $20 rides, but you're only making $10, right? That's easy to do, right? You're giving away free money. And where do you get to subsidize that? Is from the bull markets that are paying to actually give you money to try to do that. In bear markets, you have to figure out how to make money because it's not easy to get money. So in bear markets, when things suck, it's actually when the best things get created because they have the most resilience right it's most likely that they'll be sustainable that's where you separate the tourists from the real entrepreneurs
