On-Chain Bloodline. Belgian artist Stef Jacobs spent 25 years building the L’Ecurie de Marcelo universe — a fictional stable where every horse has a name, a pedigree, and a story. I was born and raised in Antwerp, the city of diamonds and this is where my artistic adventures started about 30 years ago, working for the family company, a printing company. I was four generation working as a graphic designer and this is where I learned from my dad the love for composition for color and the written words. It took 30 years actually to experiment with my abstract work where I only about 5 years ago showed it for the first time to a public. Now with a global success as a result. About 50 million years ago there was a small horse called the Eohippus. Small breed about 40 cm high, chose in the front, chose in the back. On the other side of the timeline there is my evil hippus, my evolutionary hippus. It is in my fantasy, in my world, how I see the horse we know today mutate in the future. 4500 years ago, the domesticated horse as we know today got taken around the world by a nomadic tribe out of Eurasia. In only a short amount of time, in only 300 years, that horse became dominant all over our planet. It is my artistic task to take my breath, my personal breath, my evil hippos around the world and see how it mutates in beauty.
