What is the goal with stable coins [Spoken audio]: If I were to buy American Treasury directly, I have a certain amount of risk. Let's say there is crazy inflation, yields go up, I have a mark-to-market loss on the change in interest rates. Even if it's short-term paper, I'm not talking Teebles, I'm saying six-month paper, one-year paper. Whenever there is a significant change in interest rate as it has happened historically, I would lose some money. why would I, for the same return as I would get if I bought USDC or DT directly, put an intermediary in between and add a layer of, an additional layer of risk to own the same instrument that gives me the same yield. The reason is you can use the stablecoin as a payment payment instrument or you can use it for trading and can use it in DeFi. So in the traditional financial system, they have this separation and they'll say, okay, well, here you can have your checking account, all right, and that's for payments, but you don't earn anything on that. And then over here is your savings account or your money market fund, and that will pay you some yield for that, but you can't spend it. You can't use your money market fund to pay for coffee or something. So in this new financial system, we're trying to update the financial system, we're saying, why do we force the customer to move their money between these two buckets? Why can't you just have one pool of money where if I want to spend it I can spend it and if I want to earn some yield I can earn a fair rate. So that's kind of the goal with stable.
