EMAs only average past closing prices. They don’t tell you much about volatility. ATR does. That’s why I’d rather build a system around ATR to find coins that have been trending consistently and could be setting up for a much larger move. [Spoken audio]: SMAs and EMAs are not the most efficient because it's going to allow you to take, for example, the 50 EMA or SMA. It's going to take an average of all of that. It's going to take the last 50 bars and then it's going to compile an average. And it's going to take the closing price of the candle. So rather than caring about even how the candle was moving, it just takes a simple number at the end of the close and makes a line. So it's not useful in any way except to gauge very long-term trends. So you're going to need something faster, you're going to need something that's going to hold the trend better, you're going to need something that's going to allow you to measure volatility. So you would probably want to track something like a coin that could potentially explode to the upside. So why not develop a system using the ATR that's going to help you find a coin that's been trending for a very long time.
