ELI5: How does crypto actually (even just in theory) make money? I'm trying to understand how crypto and crypto coins work, in theory. I am uninterested in buying any. I just don't understand how it can "make" money. My 5yo business invesment strategy understanding: I run a business, where I provide a service or sell goods. My friend invests in me, ie buys 10% of the business. The money they give me allows me to expand the business and make more money. So even though I give them 10% of the profits, I'm still making more money overall due to the increased income. Or at least, that's the hope - maybe the business fails, or I steal the money, but my friend and I win if the business succeeds, and that is the desired outcome even just on paper. Everyone benefits when the business does well.
