Coinbases’s World Football Finals Prmotion was a Scam! I noticed a number of comments from some of the 63k people who participated in Coinbase’s World Football Finals 14 day streak challenge. I waited to send this because I actually thought Coinbase and Brian Armstrong would do the right thing - but per the usual they did not… I received an email from [email protected] that I was the official winner of the promotion. The promotion policy said “reasonable communication” would be given - so I’m asking for HELP, what is the communities thoughts .. is a single email really reasonable? For such a once and a life time opportunity and a price of $116,000 was sent through a help account when I didn’t need help or open a request. Based on reading the promotions policy, Coinbase didn’t provide clarity into how the promotions winner would receive the news and they also asked to “kindly reply” with no clear deadline. I compared the promotions policy to many other World Cup sweepstakes and policies for the World Cup and feel that Coinbase created a scam by trying to take advantage of the Name, Image, and Likeness - I spent hours and days on the phone with support after seeing the email minutes after the softly worded response window, sent so many emails, and received little to no communication from Coinbase. Coinbase is able to send hundreds of notifications a day to their app asking us to deposit money, but when I won the prize the notification is sent via a help account… Coinbase preaches Clarity and wanting the Clarity Act to pass, yet their company is quite the opposite and it shows in the way this was handled for such a big promotion. Coinbase left my family in complete devastation as we don’t have the money to go to a World Cup - this was our only chance, similar to Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
