Here, artist @edgestretching_ shares the behind the scenes of her project De-construction, now available on @verse_works [Spoken audio]: When I began to work on this idea in late 2024, I aimed to do everything with photography. In 2025, though, after struggling to capture around me the machines I researched, I realized that AI could help, even if it didn't always get it right. With deconstruction, I found a way to integrate AI as a tool that served my creative direction. By using Mid Journey at GPT and Gemini, I crafted the machines and then brought them together with my photographs in Photoshop. I focused on European locations, some from my personal background, like Brussels or Milan, and others specifically chosen for the project, like Paris or London. I animated on a mission with Mid Journey and post-produced both clips in the project with After Effects. These are the steps that let me create the work the way I intended.
