To secure your #Bitcoin: Phone disconnected from the internet or a cold wallet? Ok, imagina que quieres asegurar por tu cuenta un objeto muy valioso, efectivo, oro, joyas o cualquier objeto de valor, donde quisieras guardarlo. Puede ser en un cajón de ropa interior, una caja con un candado o un libro hueco, son buenas opciones. La otra opción es simplemente usar una caja fuerte o una caja de seguridad en un banco. ¿Cuál es la diferencia? Que unos objetos son de uso general y otros son diseñados específicamente para la seguridad. El iPhone es un dispositivo de uso general, sirve para llamar, mandar mensajes, ver videos, jugar videojuegos y también para manejar una wallet de Bitcoin. El problema aquí es que entre más usos tenga tu aparato, más vectores de ataque va a tener. Está diseñado para conectarse al wifi, usar bluetooth, usar datos celulares, usar la cámara y obviamente entregar tus datos a terceros. No está hecho para mantener claves privadas seguras. Y si quieres asegurar una cantidad significante de Bitcoin, esto es lo que menos quieres. Así que por qué no simplemente desinstalar todo y apagar el wifi y el bluetooth. Y tenemos que considerar tres cosas. Lo primero es que puedes desactivar la conexión al internet pero te puedes asegurar de que nunca ha sido conectado al internet. Si lo que quieres es usar un teléfono viejo, probablemente se haya conectado al internet miles de veces. Así que si existe eso formalicioso en el teléfono, desconectarlo el internet no va a solucionar el problema. La cartera fría por otro lado no puede conectarse al internet. Lo segundo es que el hardware de un teléfono no está hecho para claves privadas de Bitcoin. Aunque sea poco probable, alguien con suficientes habilidades puede acceder a ese Bitcoin si tiene exceso físico el teléfono. Las carteras frías normalmente tienen un chip de elemento seguro que lo hacen casi imposible. Y por último, si el software del teléfono es de código cerrado, no tienes idea si realmente estás desconectado al internet o no. Estás confiando en que el botón de wifi y bluetooth van a hacer lo que dicen hacer. Y lo más probable es que nunca estén apagados por completo y por lo tanto nunca estén verdaderamente aislados. Es por esto que no te puedes tomar en serio una cartera fría si no es de código abierto. Ok, entonces estoy diciendo que esto no funciona. Si sabes lo que hace es puede funcionar. Si tienes, por ejemplo, un Google Pixel reseteado de fábrica con un sistema operativo enfocado en privacidad, podría funcionar mejor con una simple cartera caliente.
