"So that's why we decided to build @arc as a Layer1" [Spoken audio]: The short answer is it didn't meet the requirements of the types of users that were targeting. So especially when, you know, you're talking with a financial institution, they need deterministic, subsecret finality that isn't easily rolled back via reorg. And so we've, you know, tried to explain L2 finality when asked by some of these banks and their sort of heads just explode at the provers, the sequencers, the faults, the bridge and it's all these components to just justify like inheriting that finality and it's still Ethereum finality at the end of the day. And then we also, you know, looked at some of the like off-chain standards for payment market infrastructure rules that are tied to like actual payment systems. And we really needed sub-second deterministic finality. So from a technical perspective, that's one of the reasons why we chose layer one. And then the second was the need for privacy. We had a requirement that needed the ability to transact privately and it'd be able to disclose the transaction details to like auditors and regulators and whoever it needs. And we didn't think those were sufficiently solved with an L2 architecture. Really like privacy is one of the toughest things to get right on layer twos. So to deliver privacy in the true way for financial markets, you need to design at the base layer with how consensus is worked, how data is stored, how validated process transactions. So that's why we decided to build ARC as a layer one.
