We sat down with Siam to answer the questions investors ask us most about Bittensor. Next up: "What needs to happen for the price of TAO to significantly increase, what are we waiting for?" In this video, Siam breaks down why every subnet that grows puts upward pressure on the [Spoken audio]: Simon, something that I get asked a lot by our potential investors is what needs to happen for Tau to significantly increase in value? What are we waiting for? So I'd like to go back a bit first. So what needs to happen for Tau to significantly increase in value? So on the biggest sort of 35,000 foot view down of everything, I think BitTensor is the third big ecosystem or the third big network. So the first big network we had was the internet. So the invention of TCPIP led to the World Wide Web and that was the first globally scaled network of information transfer, dissemination, and relay. We then had the Bitcoin protocol which was the second globally scaled network which allowed for information and wealth transfer and now we have BitTensor which is the bit-tensor protocol, is the third globally-scaled network that allows information, wealth, and intelligence transfer and creation. And every one of these networks is getting more valuable. You could say, okay, Internet is great, you can transfer information, so emails are really important, and businesses all over the world, we're all relying on emails. but would you prefer to be able to send money or or or an email so money obviously is more valuable than sending an email that's why Bitcoin has basically defied all of the the critics and naysayers and is now this this the biggest supercomputer on the planet by far and also the only hard asset on the planet at the moment that's good so but now we have something even more valuable than money and that's intelligence itself so AI is the last invention humans will ever create and then it's only going to be recursive self-improvement AI creation and so intelligence sentient life is literally more important than being able to ping money from me to you and BitTensor is that it is this this incubation network this this buffet of different AI capabilities that all feature AIs or Gordron. So what needs to happen for towel to significantly increase in value? The nonchalant answer is nothing. It's in my mind, it's a foregone conclusion. It's just a matter of time. It's not if, it's when. But more in the short term, I guess if we're looking more insular, BitTenter is very much like Google. So Google or Alphabet is the gross or is the big umbrella company. It has hundreds of mini projects underneath it from YouTube to DeepMind to Google Maps even or your Google Drive, like the reason Google is so valuable because it does so many different things. I mean YouTube on its own would be one of the biggest companies on the on the planet and the gross value capture mechanism above alphabet is their token which is Google. So if you think Google is going to do well you buy their token Google on the stock market. BitTensor same thing it's the protocol of this umbrella and at the moment there's 128 individual AI startups all doing something completely different in the AI realm and the gross value capture vessel above it is tau that's the token it's just like Google but more importantly if there is a certain subnet or these mini companies are called subnets if you wanted to buy the token of any individual subnet you can but the thing is, the only way to buy a subnet token is first, you have to buy Tau, so that adds upwards pressure to the Tau price, and then you stake that Tau into the subnet pools, and that's how you get that token. And so all it takes is one subnet to start making tens of millions of dollars per month in revenue, and then start doing subnet token buybacks, so like, yeah, so we need to attract more talent, more teams to launch these new subnets and really bit tense, although it's five years old in theory, the creation of the subnet layer that was the 13th of February 2025 so a year and a bit old at the moment and we're already, these subnets are the world's best or the world's cheapest or the world's fastest that over a dozen different things so I think yeah just more eyeballs. I think when when marketing gets better and the average Joe starts realizing oh subnet 75 is the is the world's cheapest cloud storage computer cloud storage 10 times cheaper than Amazon or Google. I think people start to catch on. I guess going back to your Google analogy is a snowball effect which you've got eyeballs coming in on one subnet then it's going to attract eyeballs to another subnet and another subnet and as those individual subnets grow exactly the same with Google people they start using Google Maps and then they're using Google Drive and then they switch to Google Mail and before you know it everything snowballs and that builds the whole empire and hopefully you know that's what we're going to see with Tam. More eyeballs in on one subnet provides more eyeballs in on everybody else. Yeah and like I think most people are familiar with Metcalfe's law and network effects in in general, but there's a thing called Reed's Law. And when you have nodes interacting with other nodes, you create these little groups of nodes. And so the interactions are even bigger than general network effect. And so, yeah, and we're already starting to see this. Because bit tensor is the cheapest at a lot of different things, these subnets are going, ah, well, for compute, I'm going to use this other compute subnet for cheaper inference. We're going to use hippiest subnet 75 for storage way cheaper and there's so many little things you can do within the ecosystem which means as a business your OPEX, your operating expenditure is way less than the incumbents in the real world and that's why we have these other ones like Subnet85 which can compress any video by 96% without any perceptual quality loss. So imagine Netflix going oh we could compress all of our videos with 785 and then store them on 775 10 times cheaper. I guess it's worth mentioning on the eyeballs thing if my advice would be have a little look on YouTube now see how much content there is out there on Bitensa and then have another look in three months time and that would give people an idea I mean I know personally looking a year ago there wasn't a lot out there there weren't a lot of podcasts, there wasn't a lot of content. Fast forward 12 months, lots more people are talking about it and that's only going to grow and grow and essentially as you're saying, that's what's going to start to see the value increase significantly. So yeah, just kind of, if that was one of your questions, what is it gonna take? Just keep looking at how much the interest in Tau and Betensa is growing on the platforms that you're following and that gives you a good idea as to where it's headed.

Built an AI crypto assistant that watches the market so I don't have to doomscroll CT all day Spent the last few months building this as a solo side project and finally shipped it, figured I'd share. It's called JCA (Josh's Crypto Aid). You build a watchlist, it pulls live prices and news, and an AI (Claude) actually analyzes both together and gives you entry/exit zones with a reason behind it, instead of just dumping charts on you and making you figure it out. There's also a daily picks feature that scans trending coins and surfaces a few that actually stand out, with reasoning attached. No trading execution, it doesn't touch your wallet or move money, it's purely research/decision support. Built with Next.js, Supabase, and the Claude API.
