Ripple CEO: We seriously considered shutting down Ripple. The SEC brought Ripple to a point in 2020 where they even contemplated distributing their XRP holdings to shareholders and dissolving Ripple. But they continued the legal battle to avoid hundreds of job losses. [Spoken audio]: I'll give the ripple answer. I mean, we almost decided to shut down the company when the SEC sued us. We were like, you know, like the government has infinite power and resources. And again, it's Chris Larson, who's the chairman of the company and the co-founder. And he and I have had a great partnership for a lot of years. And both of us were like, what's the right answer here? And you know, we could have shut it down. It distributed. The company owns a lot of XRP. You just distribute the XRP to shareholders on a pro-rata basis, end of strike. Okay, like you guys think these are securities. Ripple doesn't already anymore, Ripple's gone. Now, hundreds of people would have lost their jobs. You know, I think that was a bad outcome, but in some ways it was the easier outcome. And that was a difficult decision and obviously I'm glad in retrospect, but that was not obvious at the time.
