[Spoken audio]: Everyone keeps saying meme coins are dead, and honestly, if you look at the charts, I understand why you would say that. The sector peaked at around $150 billion in December of 2024, and now it's down around 80%. SPX6900 is down about 84%. So yeah, if your only question is, did people get smoked? The answer is obviously yes, but that's not the interesting part. The interesting part is the floor. In 2018, the entire meme coin sector was worth less than $2 billion. After this crash, after all the pain, after everyone declared it's dead, the sector is still around $47 billion, which is around 23 to 47 times higher than it was in the previous cycle. That means the dev version of this sector is still dramatically bigger. And that matters, because once a sector has a bigger, permanent base, the best assets inside it don't need to perform every single day, they just need to explode when risk turns back on. That's why SPX is interesting. When Bitcoin is just chopping around, fine, maybe nothing happens. But when Bitcoin actually starts moving up, SPX has historically behaved like a much higher beta version of the same trade. moves 10%, SPX moves 40% in the same direction, just more violent. And during those up regimes, it has actually been a better trade on a risk adjusted basis. Not always, but in the moments where people actually make money during those bullish periods. So when people say meme coins are dead, I don't think that's the right frame. The better frame is the floor is way higher, the attention layer is still intact, and the strongest names now behave like leveraged expressions of Bitcoin when the market turns. That's not a dead sector. That's a sector waiting for the next risk on window, and SPX6900 is one of the cleanest ways that trade shows up.

wha's happening with the @ensdomains ? explain [Spoken audio]: Imagine your condo holds a meeting every time a tree needs trimming or a trash pickup changes. Everyone living in the condo votes or someone wants to put in the new swing set. A condo vote. A crack sidewalk that needs fixing. A condo vote. It sounds democratic because it is democratic, but it's also slow. So now imagine someone comes in and says, hey, let's just hand over all the day-to-day decisions to a small committee of expert neighbors. The community, well, you guys get to keep the say on the big stuff, but the small stuff, well, they get handled without a vote. Some neighbors nod, but other neighbors might question the intention. Who picks the committee and just how much power are we really giving away? That is roughly the fight that's playing out right now in the Ethereum name service ecosystem. A project most crypto users have probably heard of, but almost nobody is paying attention to. Until now. Let us dive in. If you have ever typed Vitalik.Eath instead of a 42 character Ethereum wallet address, then you've probably used ENS before. You can kind of think of it like the phone book of Ethereum, turning long, messy crypto wallet addresses into human readable names. And besides the fact that it's so pivotal to Ethereum, it's also just really, really well built. Every time someone registers a .Eath name, kind of like someone registering a .com domain name, that registration fee flows directly into to a treasury that's controlled by the ENS DAO. And ENS token holders vote on how that money gets spent, maybe in giving out grant money to builders improving the protocol or funding public goods or just general operations. It's a real treasury worth real money. And there's a real community of ENS token holders behind it voting on proposals. Last week, a new proposal hit the forum. It's called a temp check, which is the very beginning stages of the DAO governance process. So nothing has been approved, nothing has been finalized. But the proposal does ask for something. Big. It wants to move the day-to-day operations, the grants, and most critically, management of the treasury out of this constant deluge of community votes and hand them to a small professional board at the ENS Foundation. Five seats, one executive director, three independent directors, and one seat reserved exclusively for the founder of ENS, Nick Johnson. So here's the pitch. Dow voting has become so painful and too political. Delegates are burnt out and operational decisions need operational people. As part of this proposal, ENS token holders continue to retain the rights to continue to vote on upgrades to the protocol, decide where the revenue goes to and keep control of the registry itself, which is the core smart contract behind the entire protocol and the formal power to appoint and remove every director on the ENS Foundation Board. And just as a safeguard, it's been made explicit that the foundation cannot use the tokens from the treasury in its own Dow governance process. The argument is that ENS has outgrown its token holders voting on everything model. Instead, the proposal points to organizations like Mozilla behind Firefox, Signal, The Messenger and Linux as examples of foundations that steward critical open source infrastructure are run by boards and are beholden and accountable to a mission. Right, so why are people noticing now? Two things happened on chain that critics say tell a different story. First, ENS founder Nick Johnson self-delegated a large slice of his own tokens. In decentralized governance, Delegating means you assign your voting power to someone else on your behalf because you don't want to be part of the governance process. But self-delegating means you essentially give the voting power to yourself. And in this case, he gave himself almost half of the voting power available in E&S governance. A move which puts enormous weight behind this proposal from day one. Second, a brand new wallet called E&SSteward.Eath appeared out of nowhere and received 200,000 E&S tokens from Coinbase. But the funding suspiciously came from a wallet linked to E&S Labs. And within hours, ENS steward.eth self-delegated and instantly became the second largest delegate in Dao governance. With no public identity. No prior history. Just a name that was obviously trying to signal something by calling itself steward. Prominent ENS delegate and well-known crypto builder, Leftheres Karapetsis, flagged both moves publicly. His read on the situation says, all of this kind of looks like a coordinated preparation to swing a vote. And the kicker is, he pointed at Vitalik Buterin's own writing on legitimacy in decentralized systems and is now claiming ENS Labs has effectively lost its standing to be trusted as the stewards of the protocol. On the other side of it, Catherine Wu, an ENS Foundation board member and the author of the proposals, defended the move. Her argument is that running a maturing protocol through token voting doesn't work, has never worked, and is just structurally bad at operating decisions. She claims delegating treasury oversight to a board with teeth is professionalization, not capture. And a fair point from her regarding Nick Johnson is that like every other founder in the industry, he held his tokens rather than selling them. And that criticizing his voting power now is partly a function of just how few long-term holders there are left in the Dow. So where does all this sit right now? Early. It's a temp check. A temperature reading. And the community is justifiably debating. The proposal text does include real safeguards, such as token holders retain control of the protocol. They also retain authority on removing people from the the foundation board, and there are restrictions on the board from using tokens in the treasury for its own votes. Now whether those safeguards hold depends on how the exact bylaws look like and who ends up on the board. But what's worth watching is the fact that the two on-chain events didn't happen in isolation. A founder with outsized voting power and a brand new delegate funded through a centralized exchange with no confirmable public identity. Each one perhaps defensible on its own, together. They shape the conditions under which future voting happens in. That is the part that the community has to decide on. Dows were sold as a way to put power into the hands of the people closest to the protocol. Five years in, the pattern is familiar. Voting is slow. Engagement drops and founders accumulate tokens and thus influence by not selling. And the people who care most about the project get accused of bad faith the moment they try to fix it. Now, both things, they can be true at once. a real protocol through full token voting is hard, but concentrating voting power before a structural vote is exactly the moment where accountability matters most. So when a decentralized community needs to change how decisions get made, who actually gets to decide how that change looks like?
