Let's just say a miner had found a competing block. Even though they had found a competing block, their block was not the one that was choosing. Well, guess what? That block becomes an orphan. So now you have an orphan block, it's basically discarded, it's wasted work because someone else had found a valid block that's added to the chain. All the other miners who didn't even have a competing block, what they have to do is stop their current work, they have to stop their current work because they were working on a block before the new one was found valid. They have to stop that work and start hashing a new block based on a new tip. So you're looking at 90% waste, all this computed hash is wasted, 90% of the work miners do in bitcoin is wasted because the minute a computer, a miner finds a valid block, all the other computers got to basically throw away their work. If they had a competing block, well it's an orphan block. If they didn't even find a competing block, they were still working on finding the next block. They got to stop that. that and start working on a new block based on a new tip now, right? And Casper doesn't do any of that, right? Because Casper is structure is a graph, right? And because the structure is a graph, it could accept multiple blocks from different miners. So if a miner in Casper finds a block, the other miners don't have to throw away their work. They could finish working on a block that they were hashing, and publish it later to extend the DAG, right? The DAG being the directed acyclic graph, right? So when a miner finds a block in CASPA, the other miners don't have to waste their work. They could finish what they were working on and propagate it and extend the graph.
